Subject: Brand Management Case Study: Client Event Proposal for Backroads West Finale
Background and Event Concept: After 15 years of success, Backroads West is airing its final episode… hosted by front-runner, Hank Machoguy. This program has won its time period consistently as well as building a connection with viewers across the Intermountain West. The series finale provides the perfect opportunity for a fan-centered event combining nostalgia and celebration. I propose staging an event titled “One Last Ride: Celebrating Backroads West.”
The finale will be broadcast live, taking us back to the original travel venue visited in episode one. Since its beginning, Backroads West has created a motif  of revisiting Silver Creek Lodge in episode one of all fifteen seasons. Built near Sunridge Canyon, Hank returned to the venue every year to show off the changing character of the place. With such a long-term good relationship with the owners, they would be thrilled to host a finale event for Backroads West.
Hank will serve as the centerpiece of the event, delivering a heartfelt farewell, sharing behind-the-scenes stories, and engaging with fans directly in a moderated Q&A. The event will culminate in a live viewing of the final episode on a large screen, turning the finale into a communal experience.
Event Details and Memorability: The atmosphere at Silver Creek Lodge will highlight both the rustic roots of Backroads West and the passage of time that has defined the series. Décor will draw from archival photographs of Hank at the lodge across different years, showing viewers how both the location and the program have evolved. The memorable giveaway for all attendees will be a limited-edition “Silver Creek Pullover” — a plaid sweater embroidered with the Backroads West logo, the Silver Creek Lodge emblem, and the phrase “One Last Ride.” This item reflects the outdoorsy, mountain style that fans associate with the program while serving as a lasting, wearable keepsake that commemorates the finale.
To enhance the experience, select VIP ticket holders will receive access to a “fireside chat” with Hank inside the lodge’s historic great hall, followed by an autograph opportunity on their commemorative pullovers. This intimate setting will echo the warmth and familiarity that Silver Creek Lodge has represented for the program’s viewers year after year.
How do you plan to maximize revenue from your clients? The finale offers an unmatched opportunity for revenue generation, and Silver Creek Lodge provides the perfect thematic anchor for client involvement. Sponsorship packages will be tiered around key elements of the lodge. For example, a regional outdoor retailer could sponsor the Silver Creek Pullover, placing their logo on event signage or co-branding the embroidery tag. A local brewery could sponsor the “Final Toast at the Lodge,” providing beverages for attendees, while a regional airline might sponsor the travel-themed stage where Hank delivers his farewell.
In addition, multi-platform advertising bundles will tie the broadcast event to our station’s digital and social media presence. By selling integrated packages, we give clients the prestige of aligning with Hank’s farewell and the emotional closure of a beloved series, while also ensuring broad reach across platforms. VIP ticket sales for the fireside chat and meet-and-greet with Hank will generate additional revenue, creating an exclusive layer of access for dedicated fans.
The choice of Silver Creek Lodge strengthens our pitch to clients by offering authenticity. This is a narrative thread that has run through the program since its inception, not just a generic venue. Associating their brands with this finale allows clients to connect directly with the loyalty and nostalgia that Hank and Backroads West inspire.
Conclusion: The finale of Backroads West is more than the conclusion of a successful program; it is a cultural moment for the Intermountain West. “One Last Ride: Celebrating Backroads West” at Silver Creek Lodge will capture the spirit of the show by returning to its most iconic location, honoring both Hank Machoguy’s legacy and the loyal audience who have traveled alongside him for 15 years. With its symbolic venue, heartfelt programming, and memorable giveaway, the event will offer fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience. At the same time, the finale creates significant opportunities for sponsorships, integrated advertising, and premium fan engagement, ensuring maximum revenue for our station. By grounding the event in the continuity of Silver Creek Lodge, we reinforce the station’s brand as both a media leader and a community storyteller.
